Community News
Community Cohesion is central to the ethos of PCS. It is integral to all areas of our work within our school, local, national and international community. In essence this means at PCS we promote an inclusive culture where every individual or group of individuals matters. We promote and celebrate an inclusive culture where:- There is a common vision and sense of belonging by all communities
- The diversity of people's backgrounds and circumstances is appreciated and valued
- Equal life opportunities are available to all
- Strong and positive relationships exist and continue to be developed within the school and the wider community
How do we work towards achieving this ethos?
All students at PCS are in a vertical mentoring group, made up of students from Y7-11 and each mentor group is part of a Community Team. Each Community Team is represented at Student Council. Two of our students sit on the local Youth Cabinet and one also at National Level.Students often tell visitors that at PCS there is a strong sense of belonging to a community. Community is high on our agenda. Community Cohesion starts at home - how we work with our students, staff, parents, governors, partners and local community.
We have recently elected Equalities Champions, who work collectively to further promote students understanding and ethos of community cohesion.
Students are keen to work with our local community. Strong links have been forged with The House Project and our more elderly residents, or 'senior friends' as we prefer to call them. Students have hosted a Christmas and Easter Lunch, which was enjoyed by many.
We strive to be at the heart of our local community and take a lead in raising awareness and celebrating the diverse world we live in. Two inspirational events organized by students were our Holocaust memorial service and Question Time.
Peacehaven offers a range of Community Activities.
