The Learning Development Team

The Learning Development Faculty aims to ensure that all students have access to the curriculum and play a full role in school life; that all students achieve the Every Child Matters outcomes – to be healthy, safe, enjoy and achieve, make a positive contribution to the school and local community and achieve economic well being. The faculty delivers:
- Small discrete teaching groups for English, Maths and Humanities in Key Stage 3 and Maths and English in Key Stage 4.
- Additional support for the development of Literacy, Numeracy and Language skills.
- Additional support in class across the curriculum.
- Additional support for the development of Behaviour, Emotional and Social skills.
- Personalised learning experiences, including vocational courses at Key Stage 4.
- Parent support.
All this is achieved by working with staff across the school and in partnership with external agencies.
The quality of our provision for pupils with learning difficulties and disabilities is described by the HMI inspectors as ‘outstanding’. The report particularly commented on the excellent multi-professional work taking place within the school and the involvement of all students in every aspect of school life. Our work focuses on the specific needs of a variety of groups including:
- Students with Special Educational Needs.
- Students with English as an Additional Language.
- Looked after Children.
- Gifted and Talented students.
