Community Expectations at PCS
We expect all students to make a positive contribution to our school community. This means that students:
- Show respect to staff and peers
- Take responsibility for themselves in terms of homework, uniform and organisation
- Respect and not interfere with another person's property
- Show respect and concern for the wider community
Uniform and appearance:
- Uniform must be worn in its entirety, as per the uniform list
- All coats should be placed inside lockers and not worn around the school
Substances
- There should be no smoking on school premises or while travelling to and from school
- No cigarettes, lighters or matches should be brought to school
- No intoxicating substances should be brought into school
- There should be no aerosols in school
Valuables
- Students bringing expensive equipment, such as MP3 players, iPods, mobile phones, bicycles and scooters
into school do so at their own risk
MP3, iPods and Mobile Phones
- Students may use iPods, MP3 players during their social time
- Mobile phones may be brought into school. MP3 phones cannot be used, as we have a "no hear, no see" policy on mobile phones during the school day
- At KS4 teachers may give permission for students to use iPods and MP3 players in class
- Clear guidelines will be set by the member of staff for the use of iPods/MP3 players in their lessons
- IPods/MP3 players will not be allowed during practical lessons.
- Students abusing these guidelines will have their iPods/MP3 players confiscated until the end of the day. Persistent offenders will be asked to leave the item at home
Movement around the School
- Students should not be out of class unless they have an "Out of Lesson Pass" or unless it is break or lunch time
- There should be no running in the building
Litter
- Any rubbish should be placed in the nearest bin
Community Service
- On occasions where students fail to contribute positively to our school community they will undertake Community Service e.g. litter picking after school
Food and Drink
- All food brought in the food hall must be consumed in the food hall. Packed lunches may be consumed in the designated outdoor areas
- No fizzy drinks or high energy drinks may be consumed in the school
- Students may take a bottle of water into their classes and library
- There should be no chewing gum in school
