Acting Head Teacher Named as Permanent Head for PCS

Swale Academies Trust have announced that Austen Hindman will become the permanent Head Teacher of PCS.

This follows the decision last week to appoint Swale Academies Trust as the sponsor for the school. Mr Hindman is presently the Acting Head Teacher.

Derek Trimmer, Director of Secondary Provision for Swale, said that 'PCS has made huge improvements in a short amount of time under Mr Hindman's leadership. He has a very strong staff, who are all committed to giving students the best possible experience of education.'

Derek Trimmer noted: 'In under a year, the new leadership have increased the number of students achieving good passes in English and Maths by 16%. All students have benefited, with overall progress putting the school in the top 25% of schools nationally.'

Swale were asked to support improvement in the school following the 2015 GCSE results, which saw the school drop below the Government's baseline target. At the same time, an Interim Executive Board was appointed to take over the governance of the school. The IEB will stay in place until academy conversion is complete.
