We have arrived at the end of our first term and are pleased the health and safety measures that have been implemented since our September return have been working effectively and have allowed us to have students in school, having ‘face to face’ learning, every day.
Our students have responded positively to adopting the new systems that we have implemented and the staff are pleased to be with the students.
After carefully reviewing aspects of our practice, we will be adopting some changes for students from the beginning of term two.
Wearing of PE kit
The P.E faculty have developed a cleaning regime for the changing rooms to allow students to change into their PCS P.E. kits before and after their P.E. lessons and after school sports clubs. This will mean students do not have to wear their P.E kits all day, which will be especially important as the weather starts to become more inclement. From November 2nd all students should arrive at school in our full PCS uniform and not arrive in their P.E. kit, but to bring PE kit with them on the days students have P.E. and Dance lessons. PE kit and Dance kit are the same for students in years 7,8 and 9, with no leggings being worn.
PCS School Uniform
Our expectations from the beginning of term two are for students to be wearing full school uniform, as detailed on our school website:
If your child has not yet got a blazer, then they should wear a black V-neck jumper. Instructions on how to measure accurately for a blazer are going to be sent out separately to all Year 7 parents. If you have a child in another year group and would also like to receive these instructions or if you require further assistance with sizing a blazer please contact Sarah Daniels on 01273 575793 or email@example.com
We would also like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of our expectations for hair, make-up and jewellery, which can also be found on the uniform page of our school website.
One measure we are implementing to lower the risks associated with Covid-19 and to help keep the school open is to ensure students go outside at break and lunch times. As we head into the winter and the weather becomes colder and wetter, it will be increasingly important for students to bring a coat with them to school and wear it outside at break and lunchtimes.
Summer Exams 2021
The government has recently announced a three week delay to the beginning of year 11 exams. The summer exam series will now begin on Monday June 7th 2021 and end on July 2nd for most GCSE students. Results day this year will also be slightly delayed and will now be on Friday August 27th.
Year 10 and 11 Zones
After reviewing the learning needs for our year 10 and 11 students, staff and parental feedback and changes to the examination needs of years 10 and 11, we will be swapping the learning zones for them from the beginning of term two.
Thank you for supporting your child’s learning by ensuring they arrive at school with the correct equipment everyday. As we continue through the Covid-19 crisis, it is important that students have their own equipment for learning; black ink pen, pencil, ruler, rubber and calculator, as no sharing of equipment is allowed. This is one measure that will limit the spread of the disease when we are all in school.
It is reassuring that many of our students are arriving at school with a reusable face-mask. This is an important preventative measure to lower the risk to everyone in the school environment. We appreciate your support in speaking with your child about the risks of Covid-19 and adopting the practice of wearing face-masks when moving around school, the use of hand sanitizers and washing of hands, along with the ‘Catch it, Kill it, Bin it’ strategy.
We hope that everyone has an enjoyable end of term break and we look forward to welcoming the students back in term two on Monday November the 2nd.
Take care and stay safe.
