We have had a very positive response from our students with the lateral flow tests.
The testing clinics have been open for all students to have had three tests within school. Now that your child has had at least one lateral flow test in school we are able to issue the Home Testing Kits.
The Home Testing Kits have a step-by step guide to fully explain the testing procedure. The box contains everything you need to complete 3 separate home tests. We have also attached an easy 4 step guide to this letter and a privacy notice for you to read.
To ensure the tests are conducted correctly, children under 12 should be tested by an adult. Please remember it is your responsibility to report the test results to the NHS. To do this you will need the QR code or the ID number on the test strip to report your result. Please visit www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result to report results of the test.
For this to be an effective preventative measure, you should test your child every 3-5 days. If your child’s result is positive, please ensure that you inform the school immediately; you do not need to report a negative result to the school.
All positive results from rapid tests undertaken at home do need to be confirmed with a standard PCR test. This is because these tests are not conducted in a controlled environment and will not have trained staff on hand. Following a positive LFT test at home, a confirmatory PCR test should be booked online or by calling 119. Whilst awaiting the PCR result, your child and their close contacts should self-isolate. If the PCR test is negative, it overrides the self-test LFT test (at home only) and a child can return to school.
Thank you for your full support with our measures to help keep our community and school safe and free from Covid.
