On Friday 6th July students, staff and members of the local community including our deputy mayor and our local MP Lloyd Russell-Moyle celebrated 70 years of the NHS with a tea party.
The money raised will go towards the Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS trust.
Letter from the director of the BSUH charity
Before the school closes for the summer break, I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you and all the amazing students at Peacehaven Community School who supported the NHS Big 7 Tea party – you raised an incredible £250.12 which will go to improving the experience of our patients at the Royal Sussex County Hospital.
It really sounded like you had a fantastic day learning about the NHS and creating a BIG tea party in school in the interests of bringing the local community together. It was really lovely to hear about you inviting a wide variety of guests from pre-school children to some of the more elderly members of the community in celebration of the past 70 years of the NHS – an institution that cares for all.
From musical entertainment to bake sales, dozens of tea pots and cakes, and interviewing attendees about what they feel about the NHS, I am really impressed by the enthusiasm, engagement and energy you clearly created …. not to mention it sounding like a lot of fun!
Please do pass along my thanks to everyone involved for all their hard work and really making the NHS 70th birthday event something to remember and be proud of.
With very best wishes
