PCS VS Steyning Grammar

On Tuesday 15th January PCS year 9 football team played their first game of the year against Steyning Grammar in a home match.

PCS got the game under way and straight away looked to explote the channels and use our width. It was a very even game until PCS found the breakthrough with a lovely right footed shot from josh who turned 2 men on the edge of the box and smashed it in to make it 1-0 to PCS.

The game continued to be even and Steyning manged to find their way back into the game with a well executed finish from their striker. PCS dug in and won all battles in the midfield and found themselves 3-1 up at half time with Josh getting another with a left footed strike and Ryan with a beautiful and clever freekick.

Halftime 3-1.

In the second half PCS continued to dominate the game working hard and winning the ball back. This hard work payed off when josh then scored again to make it 4-1. Josh then found himself in towards the goal but was brought down on the edge of the box. Ryan converted the freekick to make it 5-1.

PCS kept working hard and scored 2 more goals with Jimmy smashing the ball into the net after flicking it over the defenders head and Josh then scored his fourth of the game to ensure that PCS would win the game. Steyning did not stop trying to play football but with great saves from Freddie. M and solid defending from the defence , PCS manged to see the game out.

Man of the match went to Freddie. D, who was focused and hard working at the back.

Final score 7-1 to PCS.
