Y7 Book Look

‘Book Look’ invitation for parents/carers – Thursday 1st February 2018, 17.00 – 18.00

We would like to invite you to come into school on Thursday 1st February to look at your child’s exercise books and folders from across the subjects that they study.

This is a unique opportunity for you to find out what your child has been learning about, to celebrate their achievements so far and to look at the progress that they are making. At secondary level, parents rarely get to see their child’s work first-hand in this way.

The event will run on a drop-in basis: you can come in at any time from 17.00 to 18.00 on the day. Ideally your child should accompany you, so that they can show you what they are proud of and discuss with you what they need to do to make further progress. (If you have more than one child in the school, you will be able to see all of their books.)

What will I be able to look at?
You will be able to see your child’s books and folders from across a range of subjects in one place! The books will be in the classroom where your child has their tutoring session in the morning.

Will I be able to speak to my child’s teachers?
You will be able talk to your child’s tutor, who will be in the classroom to help you to find their books. However it is not a Parents’ Evening, so you will not be able to speak to individual subject teachers. If you do have any concerns about individual subjects, please contact your child’s subject teacher.

Why have you created this opportunity for parents and carers?
The work that students produce every day in lessons represents their learning; we want our students to understand that if they put the effort in each day, and respond to feedback, they will make progress and achieve – sometimes beyond their own expectations!

By inviting parents to come and see their child’s class work we are both celebrating their achievements and emphasising what is most important to success: the effort that our young people put into their lessons every day.

Please click here to download the form and ask your son/daughter to return it to their tutor by Friday 19th January. We really look forward to seeing you at the ‘Book Look’.

Yours sincerely,

Rachel Henocq
