Year 7 Parent’s Evening

Harvey Waller - Monday, January 18, 2021

We would like to invite all parents/carers of our Year 7 students to make appointments to meet with your son/daughter’s teachers via a virtual “Google Meet” meeting.

This will be your first parent’s evening at PCS for them and will allow you to check on their progress across terms 1 and 2 and now over lockdown.

How do I make appointments?

Appointments will take place between 2.45pm and 6.45pm on Thursday 28th January. You will be able to book an appointment time using My Child At School (MCAS). Parents who have not yet logged into MCAS will receive an email with details on how to access this platform.

Booking slots will be open from from midday on Monday 18th January and closed at midday on Friday 22nd January. When you have logged in to MCAS, just click on the Parents Evening tab to access the bookings system. Click here for the Parents Evening guide to go along with this letter.

Can I see all my son/daughters teachers?
In theory you can, but some teachers work with more than one Year 7 class, so may not be able to see everyone they teach. It can be helpful to prioritise 5 or 6 teachers you really need to see. If your son/daughter has more than one teacher for a subject, please only book to see one of them.

How long are appointments?
Each appointment is allocated 5 minutes. It can be frustrating for parents when appointments overrun, so if we can all be mindful of this that’s a good start. Parents’ evenings are not the time to resolve deep-seated issues. If you have a concern you wish to address that will take longer than 5 minutes then please make an appointment to see the member of staff concerned on another occasion.

Do I really need to book a meeting?
Yes! Simply by booking a meeting you give your son/daughter a really strong message that you care about their education, are proud about what they have achieved, that you want to go on being proud and that you work in partnership with the school to support and guide them. The meetings will be more productive if your son/daughter is present.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Yours sincerely

Vickie Jenkins
