Policies

There are a number of policies and guidelines that are in use at Peacehaven Community School.

These were originally created, and have been adapted over the years, to make the process of learning as effective, inclusive and enjoyable as possible. They explain in detail certain elements of school life which may not be fully apparent at first glance. For example, the reasons behind the school's ICT Use Agreement or the arrangements affecting off-site activities.

For more information on PCS policies, please click the links in the downloads section to the left for the complete versions. If the policy you are looking for isn't listed or you require a paper version, or have any comments on our policies then please contact the Headteacher’s PA, Rebekah Platt - Head PA - rplatt@pcs.e-sussex.sch.uk for more information.

Most of these documents are in Adobe PDF format, a free facility available from Adobe Acrobat Reader it helps to maintains the original look and feel of a document.

Send Reforms

In September 2014 the Government has made changes to the law for young people with special educational needs and disabilities. The new law will result in some changes to the way you and your child receive support from the local council, health and social care services and schools and colleges.Statements of SEN will be replaced with a single education, health and care plan (EHC plan). If your child already has a statement they will be transferred to the new system within the next 3 years. For children with less complex needs there will be a new system called SEN support which will replace school action and school action plus.

PCS already focusses on a cycle of assessment, planning and reviewing to find the best ways of securing good progress for all students and this is a key element of the change. We are working with the local authority to develop our SEN and disability policy in line with the changes and will share this development with you. I will be available at all parent and carer events as well as Annual Reviews (held for students with a statement) to answer any specific questions that you have.
