Peacehaven Community School (PCS) is a vibrant, over-subscribed school on the south coast, just outside Brighton.

Life at PCS does not stand still and we constantly seek innovative ways to improve standards. For example, we have just launched the PCS Baccalaureate pathway for aspirational, motivated students from Year 8 onward.

We look to appoint staff with the ability to motivate and inspire students and who will be relentless in the pursuit of the highest standards of progress for every student, regardless of their ability.

PCS is a happy, stimulating place to work and you will be joining a hard-working and dynamic staff team, who are supportive of one another and have a ‘can-do’ approach to challenges. We are no ordinary school and believe nothing is impossible!

We pride ourselves on our excellent induction programme. We provide constant, high quality CPD and all staff are passionate about sharing good practice.

As a Co-operative Trust School we place values at the heart of everything we do and were proud to be awarded Level One Rights Respecting School status by UNICEF, who found our ethos of mutual respect ‘inspiring’.

The local area offers a high quality and varied lifestyle for people of all ages. Peacehaven is located in East Sussex, nestled between the sea and the South Downs, providing spectacular scenery and endless opportunities to enjoy outdoor activities. For culture, shopping, nightlife and fast trains to London, Brighton is just a stone's throw away.

Assistant Head Teacher in charge of Behaviour and Attendance

1.0 FTE
Leadership Range 11 – 18, depending on experience £50,476.00 to £59,857.00
Start date: January 2018

Peacehaven Community School (PCS) is a school with a proven track record of developing outstanding leaders. Since the current Head Teacher joined the school, five members of the leadership team have been promoted, with one member of the team now Head Teacher at a sister school in East Sussex. If you are ambitious for yourself and for the students you teach, we would like to meet you.

PCS is a proudly comprehensive school. This means diverse teaching opportunities, from supporting SEN students with complex needs - some of whom may also be gifted and talented and studying in our Baccalaureate stream – to working with learners who are new to English. Our approach to each child is the same; we want to support them to achieve their dreams. We don’t believe in barriers and we don’t believe in labels; we believe in hard work and high aspirations.

PCS is a school that knows what it is: a place of learning.

Since November 2016 Swale Academies Trust (SAT) has been supporting the leadership of the school. SAT has a proud history of supporting non-selective schools to out-perform grammar schools in Kent. Here in East Sussex, the Trust is applying those same principles to areas where students have not had the advantages given to their peers in more affluent areas.

We would welcome applications from existing senior leaders who want to develop their careers and explore the opportunities that working with an established academy trust brings. We would also welcome applications from outstanding middle leaders who are ready to move into senior leadership. What matters most to us is potential.

To be considered for this role you will need to demonstrate a track record of excellent teaching and inspirational leadership. You will have creative ideas for developing behaviour and attendance in a comprehensive school. You will be an excellent communicator and an outstanding role model for young people. Like us, you will be committed to keeping children safe and will put the child at the centre of everything you do.

We are committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people. To help protect the children in our care, the successful applicants will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check. Any post offered will be conditional on us obtaining two good references for you. We are unable to accept CVs as applications and will only consider candidates who complete the application form provided.
