Each mentor group has been asked to provide 1 wooden object to donate to an enormous project to commemorate the Olympics 2012 celebrations. Any wooden object can be submitted, as long as it has an interesting story to tell, or has some sentimental value. Each donation will be visible on the shell of the boat, and the students responsible for donating them will have their photo included in a book which will be available nationwide. The students will also be given a ticket to go to the boat shed in Emhurst, nr Chichester, to see exactly where on the boat their donation has been used.
Some suggestions include: Lucy Maydon's half skateboard, Jack Thornton's drumsticks, a piece of the (in)famous Goss Challenge catamaran washed ashore and collected by Laurie. Other people have donated workbenches, wooden boxes, garden tool handle, wooden spoon, a chair - the possibilities are limitless.
We want to encourage you to speak to relatives to find an interesting piece.
PCS is having a Donation Day in the main hall on Tuesday 12th July, from 10.15 - 12.30. It’s your chance to meet the boatbuilding team, make your donation and discover other ways you can help with the project.
