Year 9 welcome Ed Cozzi

On Wednesday 5th January all year 9 students were really lucky to be given an entertaining talk on the thrills and spills of life on the slopes by Ed Cozzi. Ed is a member of the GB Olympic Ski cross team. Ski cross is the latest addition to the Olympic Skiing programme and is certainly not for the faint hearted. Ed shared photos and video clips with the students and answered their many questions. They were interested to hear how at the age of 13 he had no idea where his future would take him, but hard word and determination mean that he is now living his dream. His knowledge of languages has been a key part in ensuring success as he travels around the world to compete at international level. As well as talking about his skills on the slopes Ed also shared with us tales of his life as seasonnaire for Jack Wills, and in his quest to fund his sport he was even knocking on doors in Peacehaven selling insulation!

We would like to thank Ed for giving up his time whilst back in England to come in to PCS to share his experience with our students. If you want to watch Ed in action, he will be competing in Are in Sweden on 20th February, a race that will be televised on Eurosport. We wish him ‘bonne chance’ and ‘buena suerte’ with his future and will be looking out for him in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi in Russia!
