Geography Gameshow

On Friday 26th November 2010 PCS welcomed the return of Neal Nicholls the creator and host of the Geography Gameshow. In February 2008, PCS was the first school in the UK to ever experience the Geography Gameshow and we are so glad that he considers PCS his ‘home’ school when he comes to England.
Neal Nichols, an artist from Cape Cod, USA now travels all over the world sharing his Geography Gameshow with young people. All of our Year 7 students had the privilege and enjoyment of watching Neal drawing a map of the world from memory. He uses this as a focus for not only promoting Geography and students understanding of place but also for inspiring our students to want to learn.
As well as being amazed at the talent Neal all the students are actively encouraged to take part and show that they too can be a success. Neal supported students as they identified places around the world on his map, including Callum finding the ‘eye’ for Singapore and Morgan using the clues to remember the location of Gabon.
In the first group, Amelia and Ali should both feel very proud of their achievements and I know they were happy with the prizes that they won. Ali is now the proud owner of a Yankees baseball mask and Amelia a souvenir from Cape Cod as well as signed original drawing by Neal himself. In the second group to witness the Gameshow Ewan won a world war two piece of memorabilia and Alice also took home an original piece of Neal’s art work.
So get out those maps of the world out at home, plan your round the world excursion and remember Neals words that, “those who are a success do and those who are unsuccessful don’t”.
