The Meridian Coastal Learning Communities

PeacehaveInset Day FlyerFunctional Skills Day was a fantastic success with participating delegates from Cuckmere House, Hoddern, Lewes Priory, Peacehaven, Seaford Head and Tideway schools attending.

With an extremely diverse and packed agenda the day was never going to be slow, and it certainly wasn’t dull. Following an Early Bird Bacon Buttie Breakfast delegates were welcomed by Head Teacher Helen Cryer and the scene set by Director of Training, Dawn Siso – the objectives of the day Key note speaker for the day was Clare Johnson, the Senior Director for FS National Strategies.

Clare set out the objectives and criteria of the DfSF (Department for Children, Schools and Families)  and The National Strategies Campaign now that children and young people will be required to stay in education, training or workplace training until the age of 18. Some delegate comments:

" … it was excellent to share resources with another school and spend time chatting about different intervention strategies."

"My workshop was great and the presenter was happy to hang around and discuss things with us after. I’m already working on ways to bridge the gap between school and college."

"As an NQT I found this whole thing really useful."

"A tremendous thank you to everyone involved in making Inset Day so successful. You were so welcoming to our visitors, so receptive to the collaborative process, so willing to share our practice and learn from others......and the outcome was an extremely positive start to the term.

Presentations given and sessions facilitated by so many PCS staff underpinned the day and were so well received. A day to be very proud of the school we work in, I certainly was. Thank you all. Here's to a great term."
