Local MP visits PCS

Simon Kirby meets with students William Mitchell, Ben Rigden and Ceirney Eddie
The local Member of Parliament for Brighton Kemptown and Peacehaven, Simon Kirby, visited the school on Friday 21st January to discuss issues relevant to the community. Students Ceirney Eddie, Ben Rigden and William Mitchell asked him direct questions on poverty and dictatorship and the plans of action the Conservative Party has in place to improve living standards for those homeless in Sussex. They also talked about North Korea’s nuclear program and the importance Britain has in helping prevent potential harmful attacks. Simon Kirby also talked on a more local level about funding for development, explaining: “It’s not about the amount of money you have, but how and where you spend it”, while also defending the Conservative Party’s position: “Labour’s 13 years of reckless spending is said to be a result of our current 8 months in power."

Amnesty International
The pressure group, Amnesty International, provided resources for the campaign leading up to the session; you might have noticed the yellow door tags stating “curfew order” around the school within the last couple of weeks! The MP for Brighton Kemptown praised amnesty International for their help in releasing individuals from captivity all over the world, adding: “Time is key to releasing victims of violence and the issue of poverty will not be resolved over night.
