Its students are valued as individuals whatever their abilities and interests in a school with outstanding strengths. Ofsted 2011
Ofsted – The Office for Standards in Education – declared that PCS is a Good School with several Outstanding Features which serves its pupils well.
Inspectors found the enthusiasm and energy with which the Headteacher, staff and students together foster a buoyant sense of community were striking features of the school. ‘Students are valued as individuals whatever their abilities and interests in a school where most teaching is good and some is outstanding.
The Chief Inspector wrote to students telling them that the confidence and enthusiasm of their teachers came from knowing a great deal about their subjects. “We appreciated the way you are treated as individuals and the respect and consideration you show each other”, she told them. She also said that five outstanding areas were selected for special mention: the effectiveness of care, support and guidance; pupils’ contribution to the school and wider community; equality of opportunity; Community Cohesion and the effectiveness of partnerships in promoting learning and well being.
Headteacher, Helen Cryer, responded to the report by saying it was a clear endorsement of the school by Ofsted and thanked students, parents, staff, governors and volunteers for their support, not only during the inspection but on an on-going basis at this excellent school.
