Last year I completed the PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) underwater photography course. Since then I have done other courses and been diving in the Red Sea and at various sites around the UK, taking loads of underwater photos of fish, corals and shipwrecks.

This year I entered 3 of my best underwater photos for the junior underwater photo competition for my dive club, hoping that I might at least get some recognition for my efforts. When the time came for the results to get called out I wasn’t expecting to win and as the prizes were announced I thought that I hadn’t gotten anything. Then the overall best junior underwater photo was called out and it was me! I was amazed and really surprised. My winning photo was one that I took in the Red Sea last summer of two divers swimming around a pinnacle. In the future I intend to keep up the diving but just keep it as a hobby and hope to improve my underwater photography skills. Written by Jordan Philpott.
