Chanting for Women's Rights!
"We want the right to vote. When do we want it? Now" chanted year ten girls as they acted out key Suffragette historic moments in bringing about the woman’s right to vote.
In recognition of International Women’s Day students came together to make a difference and celebrate women and girls at home and abroad. Both male and female students led interviews and expressed their views on gender specific abuse and the need for the recognition and protection of women and girl’s rights worldwide. Students creatively composed and dedicated music, choreographed dance routines, decorated and signed a giant sunflower petition and delivered week long assemblies on women’s achievements.
Today the giant sunflower petition was mailed out to Alvaro Colom, the Republican President of Guatemala, in a hope to ignite efforts to cease the widespread violence towards women and girls. We await a response.
