Write The Wrongs
We had an amazing response to this campaign and received hundreds of letters which have now been posted off. Congratulations to Elliot Windsor who won the prize draw and special thanks to members of the Peace Group who helped promote this campaign: Kieran George, Barbara Salamao, Vicky Saunders and Rhys Lamberth.
Every year all of our students are invited to send messages of hope to individuals around the world who suffer the worst kind of human rights abuses. Such actions enable our students to exercise their human rights and take responsibility for the rights of others.
Days before his 18th birthday, Ferhat Gerçek was shot by police and lost the use of his legs. Seven police officers face trial for 'wounding with intent as a result of excessive use of force' but none of those implicated have been suspended from duty and flaws in the investigation mean that the perpetrator may never be brought to justice. Ferhat’s crime was selling a legal left-wing magazine in Turkey. If found guilty Ferhat could face more than 15 years in prison.
