The team at Peacehaven Community School are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare, both physical and emotional, of every pupil. We aim to provide a caring, positive, safe and stimulating environment which promotes the social, physical and moral development of each individual child and strive to make sure that every pupil in the school feels safe, secure, well cared for, and able to reach their full potential.
We recognise the importance of enabling children to talk openly and to feel confident that they will be listened to.
We recognise the need to teach children the skills they need to stay safe and to ask for help if they need it.
We work hard to ensure that we safeguard and promote the welfare of all pupils and ensure that we have adequate arrangements in place to identify, assess and support those children who are suffering, or who are likely to suffer, harm.
We are committed to safe recruitment and selection procedures to ensure that all staff and volunteers have been appropriately screened prior to appointment, and to the provision of appropriate child protection training through the staff induction programme and within continuing professional development opportunities.
If you have any concerns at all about the safety or welfare of a child please make immediate contact to the school directly on 01273 581100 and clearly state that your call relates to a potential safeguarding issue. If your concerns are outside of school hours or during the school holidays, please contact the police or Duty and Assessment Team on 01323 464453.

Mathieu Verniol - Assistant Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) at PCS. Mathieu has overall responsibility for the management
of child protection and safeguarding concerns and referral to appropriate agencies, including East Sussex Children’s Services.

Jenna Tucker (Early Help Coordinator) is the Safeguarding Officer and works with young people and their families to promote social and emotional well-being. She supports the DSL and Deputy DSL's to manage child protection and safeguarding across the school.
