Y10 Parent’s Evening

Meet the subject teachers
3.45pm – 6.45pm Thursday 21st October 2021

Dear Parent/Carer

We would like to invite all parents/carers of our Year 10 students to make appointments to meet with your son/daughter’s teachers via a virtual “Google Meet” meeting. This meeting is an opportunity for you to discuss the progress your child has made in their subjects and most importantly how we can help them to achieve their target grade or beyond over the summer term.

How do I make appointments?
Appointments will take place between 3.45pm and 6.45pm on Thursday 21st October. You will be able to book an appointment time using My Child At School (MCAS). Parents who have not yet logged into MCAS will receive an email with details on how to access this platform.

Booking slots will be open from 4pm on Thursday 7th October and closed at 4pm on
Friday 15th October. When you have logged in to MCAS, just click on the Parents Evening tab to access the bookings system.

Can I see all my son/daughters teachers?
In theory you can, but some teachers work with more than one Year 10 class, so may not be able to see everyone they teach. It can be helpful to prioritise 5 or 6 teachers you really need to see.

How long are appointments?
Each appointment is allocated 5 minutes. It can be frustrating for parents when
appointments overrun, so if we can all be mindful of this that’s a good start. Parents’
evenings are not the time to resolve deep-seated issues. If you have a concern you wish to address that will take longer than 5 minutes then please make an appointment to see the member of staff concerned on another occasion.

Do I really need to book a meeting?
Yes! Simply by booking a meeting you give your son/daughter a really strong message that you care about their education, are proud about what they have achieved, that you want to go on being proud and that you work in partnership with the school to support and guide them. The meetings will be more productive if your son/daughter is present.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Yours sincerely

James Broadbent
Assistant Headteacher
