Day 4
What a finale!
To add to our regular list of events, Thursday saw students participating in Italian Culture, a beautiful riverside cycle and 2 off-site visits to Brighton.
Students found out more about the History of our beautiful town of Brighton through their Historical walking tour led by Mr Meyer and others were lucky enough to tour The Theatre Royal backstage and participate in a workshop.
As we welcomed students back from Italy, we farewelled students very early on Thursday morning as they set off on a day trip to France.
So finally, a massive thank you to all the students and staff who embraced all the activities across the week.
It was wonderful to see and hear staff and students building new relationships, for staff to experience students displaying such amazing resilience as they, in some cases, pushed themselves out of their comfort zones.
The fantastic cooperation and team-building skills were to be commended by so many of our students. Thank you to all of you for showing huge enthusiasm for the 2026 ‘beyond the classroom’ experiences.
See you again in 2027!!
Day 3
....And just when we thought it couldn't get any better!! Today we added Tech-fest and Green fingers to our vast array of activities. The technological expertise wowed all the staff, as the students created their own animations. All of our environmental and sustainability projects were well tended to by our fantastic gardeners.
The bakers continued to bake and the crochet team continued to crochet.
Our team-building students displayed some excellent team work, cooperation and communication skills and our sewers created some incredibly professional-looking bags and cushions. Click here for a gallery of more textile photos.
In The Apprentice, students were treated to a surprise appearance by 'Alain Sucre' who was bowled over by the incredible talent of all the students and wanted to 'hire' rather than 'fire'!
And once again, we were treated to a concert performed by the students who had participated in the Music Showcase.
Day 2
Day 2 of our Learning Beyond The Curriculum Week gave our students the opportunity to show off new skills or develop those they already had!
With the addition of a visit to the Sealife Centre, a trip up to London to The Imperial War Museum and some professional golf coaching in Eastbourne, our students who went off site had an amazing time.
For those in school, we added tennis and quilling to our activities, as well as diamond art and printmaking. A lot of fun was had trying to crack the crime scene in our CSI Forensic Day.
The judges were very impressed with the football-themed cakes – once the results have been counted, we will reveal the Master Baker!
Tuesday culminated in an ad-hoc music concert to share the work produced by our very talented students in the Music showcase activity.
Day 1
On Monday morning, 30 of our students left for Italy. Another 50 took the coach up to Harry Potter World, some students met staff in town to complete a literary tour of Brighton, others took part in beach volleyball or immersed themselves in some of Brighton's wonderful art.
Closer to home, students spent the day at Piddinghoe Water sports or took part in a beautiful walk along the Cuckmere Valley and Friston Forest. The cyclists even took their mountain bikes up to the South Downs and completed a 16-mile circuit!!
On site at PCS the fun didn't stop either. From crochet to sewing, from woodwork to cooking, from music to reading a book, there was something for everyone. For those who enjoy sport, much fun was had playing football, table tennis, or participating in multi sports. We had our own Alan Sugar delivering The Apprentice and lots of students demonstrated great teamwork skills by playing board games.
Some of our students were part of some fantastic community events, we invited students from our local primary schools to PCS and PCS students were their 'teachers for the day'.
Other students visited Downlands Court and spent a morning sharing life experiences with the elderly residents. For those of you who use The Joff, you will soon be able to marvel at the new graffiti artwork that adorns the corridors thanks to the work of some of our year 7 & 8 students.

Learning Beyond The Curriculum Week 2026 is here at last!
We are all looking forward to engaging in one or more of the fantastic 43 opportunities available to us next week as students and staff participate in the 3rd PCS Learning Beyond The Curriculum Week.
Watch this space for updates as the week progresses. The attached document is a reminder as to where and when students need to meet for each activity.
Note: There has been a change to the arrangements for The Imperial War Museum visit. We are travelling by train, all those who are participating have been sent the relevant additional details.
Learning Beyond the Curriculum Week takes a year of planning and we have a host of exciting extracurricular activities and trips planned for our students, both in school and beyond. We wanted to reassure you that all activities will be going ahead as planned and that the timings of the school day will be a normal start time of 8.40am, with an earlier finish of 3pm for all on-site activities. Off-site activities timings have not been changed.
Uniform for the week (in school)
- Monday to Thursday: Students may wear their PE kit.
- Monday only: Students and staff also have the option of wearing a non-PCS sports-themed top of their choice.
We ask that students continue to dress appropriately for a school environment and wear suitable footwear. Clothing that is overly revealing or excessively short is not appropriate for school. For health and safety reasons, Crocs, sliders and flip-flops are not permitted.
