End of Term 4 Letter

Dear PCS families

Covid update
It has been brilliant to start getting the students back out on exciting trips and hosting different activities in school to really enrich their time here. Although we are trying to make things as ‘back to normal’ as possible, we are still having significant staff absences that are further hindered by difficulties in accessing agency staff. To support this we have appointed Ms Duncan as a cover supervisor as we know our students feel more supported with staff that they know.

The teachers and support staff at PCS have been amazing and have covered lessons and collapsed classes to ensure that we have been able to keep the school open to all year groups. It has meant that they have given up what little planning and marking time they have been allocated and so please bear with them if they are not able to reply to queries as quickly as they normally would have.

We are looking for Governors to work with us to support the development of the schools strategic vision. It is a great way to get a really good understanding of what happens in the school and the direction I want to take it in. We can have parent governors or people from the local business community so please pass this onto anyone you feel may want to find out more, and contact our Chair of Governors: patricia.metham@swale.at

We are looking for teaching assistants to work with us as PCS. If you would like to find out more about this exciting opportunity to further support students then please contact: pcs-enquiries@swale.at

With increasing numbers of students in school I am looking to increase staffing capacity and so we have a number of adverts for staff to start in September.

We will sadly be saying goodbye to some teaching staff at the end of this term. Mr Jeeves will be retiring from teaching English and Mr Burney will be off to lecture at a college. They will both be tremendously missed by staff and students alike.

Ms Murray and Ms Broadbent-Smith are starting their maternity leave and we wish them well on the next exciting part of their journey, and will welcome them back as mothers. Mr Hamblin will take on the role of Head of Science in Ms Murray’s absence and we have Ms Christensen who will be our art teacher.

We are also saying goodbye to our DT technician Mr Bysouth and our Art technician Ms
Gallagher and have adverts out for their replacements. They have both been so valuable in supporting their departments' development and will be missed. Ms Allan is leaving her position as a teaching assistant.

Y11 revision
We have a number of staff offering revision sessions in the first week of the Easter break. Y11 students will need to sign in on arrival and sign out when they leave. They will only be able to access the part of the school where the sessions are being held. Any queries please contact Ms Jenkins on victoria.jenkins@swale.at

Our last day of term is Friday 1st April, which is a normal school day and we close at 3pm. We return to term 5 on Tuesday 19th April.

I fully expect staff to switch off from work to take a well deserved break and will be asking them to put their ‘out of office’ notice up on their emails.

A reminder that in Term 6 our INSET days are:
● INSET day 29th June 2022 Staff training and preparation - school closed to students
● INSET day 30h June 2022 Staff training and preparation - school closed to students
● Queen’s Jubilee extra Bank Holiday 1st July 2022 - school closed to staff and

Please do have restful breaks.

Thank you for your support.

Yours sincerely

Rachel Henocq
