Transition Support Plan Year 11 Summer 2021
We are planning to support our year 11 students into their transition into Varndean College so that they are ready and prepared to join us in September.

Academic Preparation and Support:
From June 7 th 2021- Varndean College Academic Project: we will be launching our Varndean College research project for all students from June 7th . Students will be able to get a badged accreditation on completion of this and it is a great starting point for the next step of their studies.

From June 14 th until June 29 th 2021- there will be a series of webinars, interactive online lessons and subject specific tasters and projects in each of the subjects they have chosen. There will also be the opportunity for students to partake in subjects they have not chosen but are considering to help them make the right choice before their enrolment interview.

Our New Students’ Day will be on June 30 th 2021 in college. All students will be in lessons for the day. Following on from this they will complete their Flying Start s projects from 1 st July. This is a considerable, subject specific piece of work in preparation for them starting their academic lives with us.

Wellbeing and Emotional Transition Support:
Our well being and pastoral team have produced a number of webinars and interactive sessions to support all of our new students to help them to be ready for college in what has been for many of them a very trying time.

Further Transition Support:
Our Additional Support and wellbeing department will be organising one to ones with those students who would benefit from a meeting in college, for an individual tour or from some bespoke in-house transition support.
