Sports Day 2026
What an incredible few days of athletic excellence and House pride! This year’s Sports Day will be remembered for the outstanding attitude displayed by every single student who stepped onto the track and field. From the opening track events to the final throws of the day, the defining feature of the entire event was the positive application and resilience shown across all year groups.
Whether sprinting for the finish line, pushing for that extra centimetre in the long jump, or stepping in at the last minute to fill a gap in a relay team, our students gave it their absolute all. It was inspiring to see competitors digging deep, overcoming fatigue, and supporting one another with true sportsmanship, proving that every student who participated earned invaluable points for their house.
The standard of competition was exceptionally high this year, resulting in a staggering six school records being shattered across both track and field events. Bethan C - Year 10, showed elite speed and endurance on the track, incredibly breaking both the 100m and 400m school records in spectacular fashion. On the field, Mia dominated her event by breaking the Year 7 Girls Shot Putt record, marking a fantastic achievement for her first senior Sports Day.
Harvey B also rewrote the history books in the throws, putting on a powerhouse performance to break both the Year 7 Boys Javelin and Boys Discus records. To cap off an amazing few days of athletics, the Year 10 Girls Relay Team - Beth C, Millie C, Kaelin F and Emily J, put on a masterclass in baton passing and sprinting to break the long-standing 4x100m Relay record.
The atmosphere was electric as the final points were tallied, with every cheer, race, and throw counting toward the ultimate total. After a day of fierce, but friendly competition, the final house standings revealed Wilmington finishing in a hard-fought fourth place, and Alfriston taking a commendable third place.
The tension rose as the top two spots were announced, with Jevington claiming a brilliant second place, leaving Firle to be crowned the official Sports Day Champions in first place. Huge congratulations goes to Firle for taking home the trophy, and a massive well done to all houses for pushing each other right to the wire.
Thank you to all the staff who organized the day, the spectators who cheered from the sidelines, and, most importantly, the students whose effort and resilience made the day such a resounding success.
