OVCA Youth Summit

PCS Hosts OVCA (Ouse Valley Climate Action) Youth Summit. On Friday 2nd October thirty of our PCS Climate Ambassadors team were delighted to welcome 3 other local schools - Seahaven, Seaford Head and Kings Academy Ringmer, to participate in a Youth Climate Conference. ‘’How our actions can make a difference.’’

After a review of last year’s conference and an introduction to the aims and objectives of Friday’s summit, students were introduced to Schools Ecolink, a fantastic website to inform and support young people with environmental and climate activities and actions.

Throughout the day students worked collaboratively across schools engaging in a series of different games and workshops, all relating to the environment and the role they play. They spent a significant amount of time sharing current practice in their respective schools and collecting ideas for future environmental actions.
There was plenty of opportunity for discussion and celebration of the excellent work all the young people across the 4 schools are engaging with.

After lunch, students were given an informative talk by Cllr Becky Francomb about her role as Councillor for Lewes District and the passion she shares regarding environmental issues.

There was an opportunity for a Q and A session after the presentation, where the majority of students asked interesting and meaningful questions about the role that the council makes in decision making and her thoughts about the climate and their future.

We would like to thank staff and students from Seahaven, Seaford Head and Kings
Academy Ringmer and Gemma Mcfarlane,Cathy Norcott-Jones, Stephanie Summers,
Jessie Rodriguez, Matt Bird and Sam Moore (who filmed the event), for organising and
leading the day.
