Strike Action Letter

Dear PCS families

I am writing to update you on our plans for PCS during the National Education Union (NEU) strike action, which will take place on the following dates:

Wednesday 1st February
Thursday 2nd March
Wednesday 15th March
Thursday 16th March

The strike is happening because of a national dispute between the unions and the
government over Teacher pay, and not because of any issues at our school.

On Wednesday 1st February we will be open to Y11 students only due to the risks involved in having critically low numbers of teaching staff on site. This will enable us to ensure our students in school are properly safeguarded with the staff available and minimise disruption to our Y11 examination preparations.

Y7, 8, 9 and 10 will be able to access online learning through Google Classroom and the homework platforms.

The Y9 Science mock assessment that was due to take place on Wednesday has now been scheduled for 1.30pm on Thursday 2 February.

I'm sorry about the potential disruption to you and to your child's education. I understand that this situation may be frustrating, and ask that all members of our school community continue to treat each other with respect.

Peacehaven Community School remains committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our pupils and delivering high-quality teaching.

We are working closely with our staff union representatives to keep up to date with the situation, and I will inform you of the final arrangements as soon as possible.

If you have any questions, please contact April Stevens, Office and Media Manager, at april.stevens@swale.at.

Kind regards

Ms Rachel Henocq
